Scheduled monthly testing of the statewide outdoor siren warning system scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1 has been canceled by the Hawai’i State Emergency Management Agency.

As Hurricane Ignacio passes near the state, HI-EMA decided to cancel the testing to avoid confusion.

Ourdoor sirens and the Emergency Alert System are conducted at the same time each month, generally on the first working day. The acitvity is in coordination with Hawai’i’s broadcasting industry.

The next siren testing is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 at 11:45 a.m.
