Tropical Storm Ignacio Forms in the East Pacific

The National Hurricane Center is tracking newly-formed Tropical Storm Ignacio, the ninth named storm of the 2015 hurricane season.
As of 11 a.m., NHC reports that Ignacio was about 1,530 miles east-southeast of Hilo, traveling west at 6 miles per hour and is expected to continue with some increase in forward speed through Wednesday. On Thursday, forecasters expect that the storm will take a turn toward the west-northwest.
Tropical Storm Ignacio was carrying maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, as of 11 a.m. NHC forecasts that the storm is expected to strengthen over the next 48 hours, becoming a hurricane on Thursday.
