Heavy rains throughout the state have caused the State of Hawai’i Department of Health to issue a Brown Water Advisory.
Storm runoff as a result of heavy rain have resulted in storm runoff entering into coastal waters, according to the DOH.
“If the water is brown, stay out,” DOH officials say.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff to avoid the potentially dangerous water conditions resulting from overflowing cesspools, sewers, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and additional debris associated with flooding.
