Wanted Woman Arrested, Charged
Wanted 19-year-old Cristinalynn Kainani Wakita has been arrested by the Hawai’i Police Department.
Wakita was wanted on several outstanding bench warrants and was a suspect in several other investigations.
Police took Wakita into custody on Thursday, Aug. 13 at a residence on Mill Road in Papa’ikou.
During Wakita’s arrest, a 39-year-old Papa’ikou man, identified as Paul Guiteras, interfered with officers.
Guiteras was also taken into custody.
Further investigation by Area I Special Enforcement Unit officers determined that Wakita was involved in the removal of a 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from a business on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Papa’ikou on June 25.
According to police, Special Enforcement Unit officers observed Wakita operating the stolen truck on Mill Road in Papa’ikou on June 29 and made an attempt to apprehend her. Wakita evaded officers and fled. The truck was recovered at a residence on 32nd Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park.
Wakita was charged at 5:58 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 with second degree burglary, second degree theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, fraudulent use of a license plate, resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, driving without a license, and resisting arrest.
Bail for Wakita was set at $15,000.
Guiteras was charged with felony hindering prosecution. His bail was set at $10,000.
