A single-story, single family home on Azure Dr. in Pahoa was partially in flames early Thursday morning.

Hawai’i County Fire Department officials responded to the fire at 6:22 a.m. Upon arrival, fire fighters found smoke billowing out of rafters and a fire in the carport. Officials say a laundry room in the carport experienced heavy fire damage that spread to an adjoining bedroom and rafters.

The fire was extinguished using a preconnected line from a VE10D fire engine.

No occupants were in the home at the time of the fire. The Hawai’i Police Department has noted that squatters were evicted from the residence about a month ago.
