HPD Identifies Homicide Victim

The Hawai’i Police Department has idenfitied the victim of a homicide incident that occurred Friday morning.

Forty-nine-year-old Danielle Caron, who had no permanent address, was located in downtown Hilo after officers received a call about an unresponsive woman in the entrance of a business just after midnight.

At around 11 a.m. Friday, officers located the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Curtis Hodges, in a nearby hostel. Officers used surveillance footage to assist in locating the man. Hodges was charged with second-degree murder and is is being held on $500,000 bail.

Caron was identified by HPD through fingerprints but her name was withheld as police worked to notify next of kin.
