Dignitaries gathered on Friday in celebration of the public blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for upcoming improvements to the Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

Four new putting greens, a clubhouse, bathrooms, bridges for the cart course, rain shelters, and accessible walkways at the driving range are among the items to be improved.

Jacobsen Construction Co. Inc. will build a new cart-storage building, replace course waterlines and the Kawailani Street fence, and install new fencing fronting Haihai Street.

Between February and March 2016, the 18-hole course will switch to a temporary 9-hole course as a result of construction work.
