Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park has reopened all of the trails that were closed in preparation for Hilda.
Park officials say the reopening is due to the gradual deterioration of the storm and a decrease in forecast wind speeds.
Backcountry areas and the summit of Mauna Loa have reopened. Coastal sites including ‘Āpua Point to Ka‘aha, Hilina Pali Road and Kulanaokuaiki Campground, Mauna Loa Road, and Nāmakanipaio Campground and A-frame cabins are all now open.
