All United States and Hawai’i State flags will fly at half-staff at state offices, agencies, and the Hawai’i National Guard on Saturday. The flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset in respect for late former State Representative Colleen Meyer.

“Representative Meyer was a dedicated public servant and respected advocate for the residents and businesses of the North Shore Community,” said Governor David Ige. “I had the honor and privilege of working alongside Representative Meyer during our time together in the Hawai‘i State Legislature and always respected her trailblazing spirit and commitment to making a positive difference for our state. On behalf of the people of Hawai‘i, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Meyer ‘Ohana and their many friends.”

Representative Meyer was born in Honolulu and grew up in Manoa. She graduated from Punahou School in 1957 and attended San Mateo College in California. Before returning to Hawai’i, Representative Meyer worked as a real estate broker.

Before being elected to her Hawai’i State House of Representative seat, she served on the Kahalu’u Neighborhood Board.
