Man Suffers Serious Injuries After Alleged Robbery
The Hawai’i Police Department is investigating a robbery late Thursday afternoon in the area of Keawe Street just south of Mamo Street in Hilo.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., a 33-year-old man reported that two males approached him from the back and began to punch him. The suspects reportedly stole the victim’s wallet and cell phone and attempted to take his backpack. The attackers then fled the area.
The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center and then flown to a hospital on Oahu for treatment of serious facial injuries.
The attackers are described as two males with dark complexions, one about 5-foot-6 and the other about 6-feet tall. Both were described as having a stocky build.
