Local Farm Faces Salmonella Recall

Mahina Mele Farms in Captain Cook is recalling some of its macadamia nut products after the Food and Drug Administration tested products and found Salmonella.

Included in the recall are six-ounce and 16-oz. unsalted and salted packages of Izzie Macs! Macadamia Nuts, a five-pound bag of bulk macadamia nuts, and 12-oz. packages of Baby Bruddah’s Mac Nut Buttah and Chocolate Mac Nut Buttah.

All of the items were shipped between May 26-29 and came from LOT #016. These products were shipped primarily to the East Coast and within Hawai’i

The FDA says that no consumers have reported salmonella or any other illness in connection with the recalled macadamia nuts.

Anyone who may have purchased these products is asked to return them to the original retailer for a full refund or replacement.
