Guillermo Closures and Cancellations

As Guillermo continues to approach just north of the state, the potential of heavy rain, flooding and wind have been forecasted.

Big Island Now will keep you up to date on all the latest storm details, as well as closures and cancellations.

The following closures are in place due to hazardous conditions:

• Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park has closed all backcountry areas at the park. No permits will be issued for the areas until park staff is able to reassess the areas following potential impacts from the storm.
• Mauna Loa Road from Kīpukapuaulu to the Mauna Loa Lookout at HVNP, as well as the Nāmakanipaio Campgrounds and A-frame cabins, have been closed.
• Onekahakaha Beach Park
• Kealoha Beach Park
• Leileiwiwi Beach Park
• Richardsons Beach Park
