Public information is being requested by the Hawai’i Police Department in relation to a “suspicious fire” at an unoccupied house in Puna.

The Hawai’i Police Department says the fire occurred during the early hours of June 12 and that the fire appears to have been intentionally set.

HPD reports that firefighters and police officers responded to a vacant and unoccupied home on North Glenwood Road in Kurtistown, an area located one-tenth of a mile from Route 11. Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

After extinguishing the flames, fire personnel determined that the structure had suffered $25,000 worth of damage.
