Chief Kubojiri Names HPD Promotions

Seven Hawai’i Police Department officers have been promoted to either sergeant or detective status by Chief Harry S. Kubojiri. All of the promotions will take effect beginning Aug. 1.

A 20-year veteran of HPD, Sergeants John T. Talich will be reassigned from the Puna District and begin service within the North Kohala District.

Detective Kayne K. M. Kelii is a 16-year veteran of HPD who will be assigned to the Area II Criminal Investigations Section in Kona. Currently, Detective Kelii is serving in the North Hilo District.

Current Kona Patrol officer Detective David T. Matsushima is a 10-year HPD veteran who will be reassigned to the Area II Criminal Investigations Section in Kona.

Assigned to the Area II Criminal Investigations Section in Kona is current Kona Patrol officer Detective Carrie K. Akina, a 10-year HPD veteran.

Sergeant Charrise K. Wakita will be reassigned to the Puna District\ following her current service as a member of the Traffic Enforcement Unit in East Hawai’i. Wakita is a 12-year veteran of HPD.

A 12-year HPD veteran, Detective Jeremy S. M. Lewis will be assigned to the Area II Criminal Investigations Section in Kona. Currently, Lewis is assigned to the Area II Vice Section.

Detective Jerome A. Manuel is a 10-year HPD veteran who will be assigned to the Area II Juvenile Aid Section, where he is currently an officer.
