A public information meeting regarding the soon-to-begin construction of the Pahoa Roundabout is scheduled for July 29 with Senator Lorraine R. Inouye, state and county elected officials, and State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation personnel. The project contractor will also be in attendance.

The Wednesday meeting will take place at the Pahoa Community Center from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

During the meeting, residents of the area will be updatedabout the Pahoa Roundabout project, located at the intersection of Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road, which is scheduled to begin at the beginning of August. Officials from the DOT will provide information regarding the project start date, expected duration of the project, and detours that will take place as construction gets underway.

The project, which was slated to begin in 2014 and have a completion date at the beginning of Summer 2015, was stalled as the June 27 lava flow threatened the area.
