The Hawai’i Police Department is warning the public about a telephone scam involving individuals who claim to be from the Department of Water Supply.

DWS customers are called by the scammers and told that they must pay a past due water bill or their water will be shut off.

These calls are fraudulent and an attempt to gain access to credit card information, according to DWS.

Anyone who receives a call of this matter should report it to the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. An additional report should also be filed with the DWS by calling 961-8050.
