The Hawai’i Police Department has identified the body of a man found below Nanue Bridge on Friday in the Umauma area as 54-year-old Patrick Dacayanan of Hilo.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday morning and determined that Dacayanan died of injuries that were consistent with a fall from a height.

Foul play has been ruled out by detectives

On Friday, just after 9 a.m., HPD responded to the scene following a call reporting a lifeless body below the bridge.

The death of Dacayana is the second in the area over the past week and a half. On Wednesday, June 3, HPD identified a body that was found in the Umauma Stream on June 1 as 62-year-old Bobbie “Jackie” Carnathan.
