Water is scheduled to be temporarily shut off along Kamehameha Avenue between Kumu Street and Pauahi Street in Hilo Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Department of Water Supply says the shut-off is necessary to conduct a main connection and hydrant replacement.

When water resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned. Customers may experience turbid or discolored water, as well as air trapped in plumbing. DWS officials say these things will dissipate as water is used.

Customers in the affected area are advised to take precautions and protect their property, including devices that depend on water or water pressure for use.
