Between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, the Department of Water Supply will shut off water temporarily along Kamehameha Avenue from Ponahawai Street to Pauahi Street in South Hilo.

The water shut-off will be conducted to relocate a fire hydrant.

DWS officials say the lines will be flushed and cleaned once water resumes, during which customers may experience turbid or discolored water. In addition, air may be trapped in plumbing. The air will be released upon use of water.

Customers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their property by disabling electrical power to pumps or any other devices that depend on water pressure.
