HCCC Inmate Arrested and Charged with Burglary

An inmate at Hawai‘i Community Correctional Center has been arrested and charged by the Hawai‘i Police Department in connection with a burglary reported last year at a Kurtistown Business.
The theft occurred on July 31, 2014, when items were taken from a flower warehouse on North Ala Road.
A police investigation linked 22-year-old Luke Kaniaupio to the burglary, who has been serving jail time since January for unrelated crimes.
Kaniaupio was arrested on Thursday, May 14, and charged with second-degree burglary. His bail was set at $2,000, and he was returned to HCCC to await his initial court appearance for the new offense, scheduled for Friday, May 15.
