Hilo Woman Charged with Felony for Stealing Fruit

A 49-year-old Hilo woman is facing a felony charge after reportedly trying to steal fruit at a lychee orchard.
On Wednesday morning, May 13, Puna police responded to call on Railroad Avenue in Kea‘au from a 60-year-old man who encountered a woman on his property harvesting lychee fruit without permission.
The woman, Andrarene Grammer, was arrested and police recovered 40 pounds of fruit valued at $180. She was taken to the Hilo Police cellblock and later charged with a C felony of second-degree theft.
Grammer’s bail was set at $10,000 and her initial court appearance has been scheduled for Thursday, May 14.
