Brianne Kirk, the Colorado 9-year-old who authorities suspected to be on the Big Island with her non-custodial father, Brian Kirk, has been located and is unharmed.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Tom Simon reported early Thursday morning that Brian had been tracked down in Texas. An anonymous tip allowed the FBI to use a “sensitive technical means” to zero in on him, locating him in Poolville, TX.

Early Thursday morning, Brian was arrested by authorities in Texas at a relative’s house.

Brian is not in police custody and will await extradition to Colorado, where he will face criminal charges.

Currently, Brianne is under the care of Child Protective Services in Texas. Simon says Brianne’s mom will go to Texas to be reunited with her daughter.

The FBI believes that Brian flew to Texas from the Big Island with Brianne in April. At the time, the FBI is unsure of what name or identification he used when flying.
