HPD Investigates Puna ‘Drive-By’ Shooting

HPD is investigating a Monday evening incident in the Leilani Estates subdivision in Puna, where a reported “drive-by” shooting occurred.

Responding to a 10:48 p.m. call, HPD was told that a 47-year-old heard gunshots from the road on the 13-1200 block of Leilani Boulevard. Following the gunshot sounds, a vehicle was heard driving away in the makai direction.

Police say the woman found a bullet hole in her house. During the incident, five people were in the home.

Detectives later recovered a bullet from inside the home.

According to HPD, the case is being investigated as five counts of first-degree reckless endangering.
