Volunteers Clean Up Mountain View Elementary
Mountain View Elementary School received a facelift last Saturday, April 25 when over 150 union members from throughout the state gathered to participate in “Labor of Love.” The event is an annual union give-back project that was created by the Hawai’i State AFL/CIO’s desire to be a positive force in supporting local communities.
Saturday’s event gave Mountain View Elementary a fresh look with a fresh coat of paint, fixed basketball court and playground equipment, landscaping, and more.
A mahalo assembly was held on Monday, April 27 and students gathered to thank and show appreciation for the labor volunteers.
Several local unions had volunteer representatives at the event, including the HSTA, HGEA AFSCME 152, ILWU Local 142, UPW Local 646, IBEW 1186, IBEW 1260, IBEW 1357, Hawaii Carpenters Union, District Council 50 (Painters Union).
