The Hawai’i Police Department is continuing its investigation into the death of a woman who was found unconscious Monday morning on Plumeria Street in the Fern Acres subdivision of Puna.

On Monday, HPD said detectives were called after finding the woman on the road with a suspicious injury.

An autopsy that was scheduled for Tuesday morning concluded that the 50-year-old woman had died of a health condition. The suspicious injury was deemed “superficial” and authorities say it is consistent with a fall to the ground and did not contribute to the woman’s death.

At about 10:46 a.m. Monday, police responded to Plumeria Street, where they found the woman and contacted detectives after observing a suspicious injury. The woman was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m.
