HPD Investigates Suspicious Death

The death of a woman who died Monday afternoon is being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Police say they received a phone call regarding an unresponsive woman on Plumeria Street in Fern Acres at around 10:46 a.m. Monday morning. Officers located the body of a 50-year-old woman and contacted detectives due to the appearance of a suspicious injury.

Detectives from the Area I Juvenile Aid Section responded to the scene to continue the investigation.

After being transported to the Hilo Medical Center, the victim was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m. The case has been classified as a coroner’s inquest.

No arrests have been made in connection to the incident, but police have not ruled out foul play.

An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.
