The Office of the Attorney General Hawai’i Criminal Justice Data Center recently released a major upgrade to the Hawai’i Sex Offenders Search mobile app.

Users of the app can now sign up for alerts based on zip code or street name and city to receive information regarding sex offenders in their area. Subscribers will receive alerts when there is an offender who has relocated to their area, or when an offender in their area updates their registration information. The app, however, does not provide a description of how dangerous the offender may be.

Chapter 846E, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), mandates that the Hawai’i Criminal Justice Data Center maintain a central repository of covered offenders in the State of Hawai’i.

A covered offender is a sex offender or an offender against minors, as defined in Chapter 846E, HRS. The public can access information that provides the facts about each offender’s criminal conviction.

The free app, Hawai’i Sex Offender Search, is available for Apple, Android, and other mobile devices.

Those who wish to view this information online can do so by visiting the online directory of Hawai’i registered sex offenders at the sex offender website.

Both applications were created in partnership with Hawai’i Information Consortium, LLC, the official internet portal manager of eHawaii.gov.
