Hospice of Hilo is inviting Big Island residents to celebrate the memory of a cherished loved one during this year’s Celebration of Life on May 2, at Wailoa State Park in Hilo.

Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by a “Walk to Remember” at 5 p.m.  The 2.3 mile walk around the park is intended to commemorate loved ones.  Food and live music will follow, as participants decorate personalized memorial lanterns for a lantern floating ceremony at 7 p.m.

Lanterns may be purchased in advance for $20 from Hospice of Hilo, or by calling (808) 969-1733.  They may also be purchased at the event for $25 up until 6:30 p.m.

Hospice has set up a fundraising page online to help support its work in the Celebration of Life.  Participants can set up their own page by clicking the “setup” button on the page.  Then they can share their story with friends and loved ones online.  All monies raised will stay in East Hawai‘i to support Hospice of Hilo.
