The Mauna a Wakea Ohana released a public statement on Tuesday discussing their standpoint on the Thirty Meter Telescope construction:
“UH and the DLNR have failed in their obligation to follow state laws which guarantee the health and well-being of the fragile ecosystem and natural resources which Mauna a Wakea provides for us all. We are here to protect the mauna, our kupuna, as it is our kuleana to protect and care for our elders.”
Earlier, TMT project manager Gary Sanders released a statement on the crew’s “denied access” to the project site.
