Hawai’i County will hold a community meeting regarding updates and community input for the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The plan, currently being updated, represents Hawai’i County’s commitment to reducing risk from natural hazards.

“In recognition that the natural island beauty of the island comes with certain hazards and risks, it’s [the county] committed to disaster preparedness and to becoming a disaster-resilient community,” a county official said.

Meetings will be held on both the West and East sides of the Big Island in early April. Representatives will be at the events to provide an update on the planning process and to seek community input regarding hazards and risks in their communities.
