A temporary water shut-off along Kamehameha Avenue, between Pauahi Street and the Wailoa Fisheries Research Station in Hilo, has been announced by the Department of Water Supply for Friday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The water shut-off is due to waterline work being conducted for the Kamehameha Avenue Reconstruction project.

Upon resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed. Customers in the affected area should prepare for possible turbid or discolored water. Air may also be trapped in plumbing but will be released upon initial use of water.

DWS officials also advise customers in the area to disable pumps of other devices that are dependent on water pressure to reduce the risk of damage.
