The Department of Water Supply has announced a temporary shut-off of water services along Kamehameha Avenue, from Manono Street to Pauahi Street in Hilo, for Friday, Feb. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Officials say the closure is due to waterline work for the Kamehameha Avenue Reconstruction project.

Once the temporary shut-off is completed, the waterlines will be flushed, causing the potential for turbid and discolored water. It is also possible that air will be trapped in plumbing. The air will release upon use of water.

Customers in areas that will be affected should take precautions, including the disabling of electrical pumps and other devices whose operation is dependent on water pressure.
