Four Big Island County parks will close on a regular schedule throughout 2015. Large scale maintenance will be conducted in small spurs during these temporary closures.
The Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation announced the closures of ‘Āhalanui Park, Isaac Kepo’okalani Hale Beach Park, Kahalu’u Beach Park, and Spencer Beach at ‘Ōhai‘ula Beach.
‘Āhalanui Park, located in Puna will be closed temporarily from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, with the exception of November, which will be scheduled for the third Wednesday due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.
Closure dates for ‘Āhalanui Park are as follows:
January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 18, and December 9.

Isaac Kepo’okalani Hale Beach Park, located in Puna, will close temporarily on the third Wednesday of each month and is scheduled to open on the following day, with the exception of March, which will close on the second Wednesday of the month due to Spring Break.
Closure dates for Isaac Kepo’okalani Hale Beach Park are as follows:
January 21, February 18, March 11, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 16.
Kahalu’u Beach Park, located in North Kona, will close temporarily on the first Tuesday of each month until 10 a.m., with the exception of January and October, which will both close on the second Tuesday of the month due to Winter and Fall Break.

Closure dates for Kahalu’u Beach Park are as follows:
January 13, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 13, November 3, and December 1.
Spencer Park at ‘Ōhai‘ula Beach, located in South Kohala, will be closed all day on specified dates monthly, with the exception of June, July and August.
Closure dates for Spencer Park at ‘Ōhai‘ula are as follows:
