The Hawai’I Police Department announced Wednesday that body of missing Kea’au man Jann L. Nakoa was found Tuesday afternoon.
Police say an opihiki picker noticed the body 100 feet from the ocean along the shoreline between Hilo and Kea’au, two-and-a-half miles from Ha’ena Point. The 49-year-old man’s body was airlifted from the area by the Hawai’i Fire Department.
The body was identified Wednesday through fingerprints.
Nakoa went missing on Jan. 1, where he was last seen at 2 a.m. in the Kea’au Ag Lot area.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday to determine his exact cause of death. Police do not suspect foul play.
