The Hawai’i County Department of Public Works announced Friday morning that the inbound lane on Bayfront Highway and the outbound land at the Pauahi intersection will be closed for two days in order to conduct reconstruction and pavement of the Makai side of the Pauahi Street intersection.

On Monday, Dec 29, the closure is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. and continue through until Tuesday, Dec. 30, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The one lane on Bayfront Highway and at Pauahi Street will reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Motorists traveling outbound are advised to use Waianuenue Avenue or the detour route, which begins at the base of Wailoa Bridge and will be open from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.
