Lifeguard Tower Replacement Will Close Honoli’i

Transportation and replacement of the lifeguard tower at Honoli’i Beach Park will occur on Wednesday,Dec. 17.

Honoli’i Beach Park and Bayfront Beach will be closed during the morning hours Wednesday as the Hawai’i Fire Department transports a new lifeguard tower from the Bayfront beach area, near Wailoa River, to Honoli’i Beach Park.

The removal and replacement will be conducted by HFD personnel using a helicopter between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

During the process, the existing tower at Honoli’i Beach Park will be removed and taken to the Bayfront Beach area to be dismantled. The new tower will then be transported to Honoli’i Beach Park.

Both beaches will be closed to the public throughout the process, and no one will be allowed in or around the flying zone area. HFD officials ask that the public avoids these areas in the morning hours Wednesday.
