The University of Hawai’i at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management will host a presentation by agroforestry consultant Dave Sansone on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in University Classroom Building Room 100.

The presentation, entitled “Climate Smart Agriculture X Agroforestry,” is free and open to the public.

Sansone is the owner of Agroforestry Design, LCC., which offers agroforestry and permaculture consultation services on the Big Island.

Since 2002, Sansone has developed low-input/effort agroforestry models, and has worked with over 1,000 species of plants in a diversity of climates, conditions, and cultivation systems.

During his presentation, Sansone will cover a wide range of topics, including no-till and bio-till farming, biological weed control, mulch crops, and a variety of other topics.

Individuals attending the presentation can also expect to learn how to address and adapt to climate change while meeting current needs through developing productive agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gasses and reduce increasing amounts of carbon while improving the soil.

The event is sponsored by CAFNRM and Agroforestry Design, LLC and will include free rare and uncommon plants.

If you wish to obtain more information about this presentation, you can visit the Agroforestry Design website or call CAFNRM at 932-7036.
