The Hawai’i Police Department says it has arrested and charged a Hilo man in connection to a burglary last year in Hawaiian Beaches.

According to police, 35-year-old Josiah Ikaika Konanui was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree theft, and contempt of court.

Konanui was wanted for a burglary that happened last year during the month of September. A 45-year-old man notified authorities that a number of items had been taken from his home, including fishing poles.

Some of the items were recovered, leading police to identify Konanui as the suspect in the case.

On Sept. 2, HPD issued a public notice identifying Konanui as a a wanted individual in the burglary case. He was also sought on a $1,000 bench warrant for contempt of court.

Konanui appeared in court Monday.
