A Department of Water Supply well in Ka`u will be taken out of service later this month for repairs.

The well at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates will be shut down on June 23 for the electrical work. The project is expected to be completed by July 2.

However, standpipe service for commercial water haulers will be halted on June 20 for the duration of the repairs.

Drinking water spigots for the public will remain open as long as a minimum supply remains in the reservoir for fire-fighting purposes.

The public is reminded to take water only for potable uses.

“Cooperation by all users extends water availability in the reservoir for as many customers as possible,” said DWS spokeswoman Kanani Aton.
