A low-cost spay and neuter clinic for cats will be held Saturday, June 7, at the Eagles hall in Keaau.

The clinic is sponsored by Hui Pono Holoholona, a non-profit organization dedicated to help manage the pet population on the Big Island.

The cost is $35 for females and $25 for males. Checks and credit cards are accepted.

Some financial assistance is available, but event organizers ask that participants contribute what they can to stretch the funding as far as possible.

Organizers note that because of their burgeoning population, thousands of cats and dogs are euthanized on the island each month.

Contact the organization at 968-8279 or [email protected] to register a cat for the clinic.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.
