Robbery Reported Monday Night in Liliuokalani Gardens

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Monday night in a Hilo park.

A 44-year-old man reported that he was in Liliuokalani Gardens at about 8:40 p.m. when he was punched and his backpack was taken.

The suspect was described as a local man, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pound, and wearing rubber slippers.

He was last seen heading south on Lihiwai Street, which leads to Kamehameha Avenue, in what may have been a dark blue older-model Honda CRV.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the police department at 935-33411.

Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
