The county on Tuesday will begin accepting applications for grants from non-profit organizations.

According to County Councilman Greggor Ilagan, $1.5 million will be appropriated by the County Council for 501(c)(3) organizations for the upcoming 2014-15 fiscal year.

For the current fiscal year, 108 awards were issued, Ilagan said.

Completed copies of the grant packets are due to the Finance Department before 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2014.

Ilagan said any non-profit with a 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service is encouraged to apply.

“All services that benefit the people of Hawai‘i Island are eligible to receive grant funds,” Ilagan said in a statement issued today.

Application forms will be available online here beginning on Tuesday.
