A 58-year-old Ka`u man has been charged with a variety of drug and other offenses following the serving of a search warrant last week at his Hawaiian Ocean View Estates home.

Police said the search conducted Thursday on Bamboo Lane resulted in the seizure of 113 marijuana plants ranging up to 3 feet in height. Also confiscated were 22 grams of hashish, a pound of dried marijuana, 4.5 grams of heroin, eight prescription pills and marijuana paraphernalia.

Arrested at the scene was the resident, David Klemz, and two other Ocean View residents, 51-year-old Alan Greiner and 43-year-old Shanon Sojka.

At the Kona police station, Klemz was also arrested on an unrelated grand jury indictment for promoting prison contraband, which carried a bail of $10,000. He was also arrested and charged on a warrant for violating probation which specified no bail be granted.

Klemz was charged Friday with commercial promotion of marijuana, promoting a dangerous drug in connection with the heroin, and promoting a harmful drug in connection with the hashish. He was also charged with promoting marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His bail on those offenses was set at $36,000.

Greiner was arrested and charged in connection with two unrelated bench warrants for failure to appear in court, with his bail set at $450.

Charges against Greiner and Sojka in connection with Thursday’s search warrant and seizures are pending further investigation.
