Police have captured one of two inmates who escaped from the Hale Nani correctional facility Wednesday night.
Shortly before noon today, police responded to a report that Andrew Wanat had been seen on Alapa Street in Kailua-Kona.
Police said Wanat twice tried to run from responding officers but was taken into custody without further incident.
Wanat, 27, was arrested for second-degree escape and is being held at the Kona cellblock.
The other escapee, 23-year-old Robert Carlos Garcia, is still at large.
