Some 70,000 residents of the Big Island will be receiving juror questionnaires in the mail from the Hawaii State Judiciary. The mailings will be used to help select candidates for juries in 2014.
The questionnaires are sent out each year to randomly selected residents. This year a total of 235,000 questionnaires will be sent out statewide.
Recipients of the questionnaires have 10 days to complete and return the forms to the Jury Pool Office. Those who fail to respond are subject to penalties.
To be eligible to serve as a juror one must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the US, a resident of Hawaii, and able to read and understand English.
