Update: The missing hiker, identified as Jeniffer Ho of the Hawaii Sierra Club, was found safe near the 23 mile-marker of the Saddle Road at around noon on Thursday.

As many as 19 people, including HFD, Pohakuloa Training Area,  and Forestry personnel were involved in the search for Ho, along with aerial support from Chopper 1.

A Hawaii County Fire Department official had told Big Island Now yesterday that rescue attempts were underway for a hiker who had reportedly gone missing overnight on Mauna Kea.

The woman, later identified as Jennifer Ho of the Hawaii Sierra club, was hiking with friends and family when she separated from the group due to illness. She went missing just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
