County Civil Defense officials today said a warning siren in Hakalau will be tested Thursday between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The siren is located on Highway 19, north of mile-marker 15 and Chin Chuck Road.

If the test goes off as planned, residents in the area will hear the siren sound for 30 seconds.

Officials said technicians will use data gathered from the test to verify its status and complete maintenance actions.

Testing of the Emergency Alert System and Siren Warning System usually take place at 11:45 a.m. on the first working day of each month.
