Water Shut-Off in Na`alehu Friday Afternoon

County water service will be shut off from 1 to 2 p.m. in Na`alehu Friday to allow for a connection to be made to the new Ka`u Family Health Center.

Customers that will be affected are located along Mamalahoa Highway from Ohai Road to Kukui Road, including Niu Street and all other roads and side streets in that stretch.

When water service is turned back on waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers may notice turbid or discolored water. Air may also be trapped in plumbing but will be released as water is used.

The department is reminding affected customers to take any precautions necessary to protect property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
