No Tsunami Warning after Vanuatu Earthquake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a statement this afternoon notifying the public that there is not expected to be a Pacific-wide tsunami after an earthquake hit the south-pacific region of Vanuatu today.

The 6.6 magnitude quake happened at 12:28 pm Hawai`i-time.

Vanuatu is an island nation located in an archipelago just over 1,000 miles east of northern Australia. It has a population of 221,506.
