Big Island Now incorrectly reported Tuesday night that Mitch Roth had lost the race for county prosecutor.

Roth, a deputy prosecuting attorney, defeated Lincoln Ashida, currently the county’s corporation counsel.

According to the final election printout issued at 2:57 a.m., Roth received 28,311 votes to 28,184 for Ashida, a margin of 127 votes.

Big Island Now regrets the error.
